The Fine Art of agency through an eclectic life

WHERE ART meets LIFE – AND BEYONd.

The Heritage: Roots in the Heartland

Bjørke Østre is more than just a home; it is a piece of living history. Nestled in the picturesque heartland of Norway—a region often whispered of as ‘Norway’s Tuscany’—this 18th-century farm stands as a testament to time. I have dedicated myself to preserving its original soul, restoring its structures to honor the centuries that have passed through these halls.

Situated just a stone’s throw from the childhood home of Edvard Munch, the farm is steeped in the same light and landscape that inspired the great expressionist. Surrounded by pioneering biodynamic forests and rolling fields, Bjørke Østre offers a rare stillness. Here, the legacy of Norwegian culture meets a peaceful retreat from modern life, providing the very ground from which my art grows.

The Palette: A Symphony of Color

I don’t follow color trends; I follow the light as it hits the farmhouse walls. To me, color is an emotional language. I love the tension between the deep, moody greens of the Norwegian forest and the sudden, electric pop of a peony pink or a sun-drenched ochre. In this house, every room is a study in how pigments can transform a space from a mere dwelling into a sanctuary for the senses. It’s about being fearless—letting the walls breathe with the same intensity as the oil paint on my canvases.

The Curation: Where History Meets the Present

Living in a historic farmstead means living with ghosts of the past—and I mean that in the most beautiful way. My style is a constant dialogue between centuries. I find deep joy in placing a raw, contemporary painting next to a 19th-century heirloom or a delicate silk fan from a distant travel. This curation isn’t about perfection; it’s about soul. It’s the art of gathering objects that have a story to tell, creating a home that feels like a curated gallery where you are allowed to kick off your shoes.

I see the figures on my canvas as observers of life itself, without an escape from breath, heartbeat, dreams, and anticipation of the unspoken.
