LOCAL AREA, HEDMARKEN

Cultural Heritage

Biodynamic farming is a holistic and sustainable approach to agriculture that goes beyond organic practices. In the Hamar region, renowned for its fertile soil and rich farming traditions, this method plays a vital role in preserving both the environment and cultural heritage. Some of our local farms (such as Alm Ostre) choose to follow natural rhythms, such as lunar cycles and planetary movements, to ensure a balanced growing process, while avoiding synthetic chemicals and artificial fertilizers. This promotes biodiversity, healthy soil, and fosters resilient farming.

In addition to its environmental benefits, biodynamic farming also supports organic agriculture (Ommang Southern Farm), ensuring that produce is grown naturally, without harmful additives or pesticides. Furthermore, animals raised on these farms live under excellent conditions, with access to open spaces, fresh air, and the care they deserve. Many farms in the region (such as Alm Ostre

and Ommang) continue to grow ancient, local grain and fruit varieties, preserving both genetic diversity and historical knowledge. By blending modern sustainable practices with age-old traditions, we are proud to say that biodynamic farming strengthens local identity, environmental consciousness, and animal welfare in the area.
